I am an experienced economist, with a focus on Institutional economics, Natural resource economics, and local government dynamics, with a keen interest in applying spatial econometric analysis to these topics. Other research interests include the intersections of institutions with international trade, illicit financial flows, and economic performance.
I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics, and Research Associate of PRISM, at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Prior to this, I was as a postdoctoral research fellow, under the Carnegie DEAL programme. I have undertaken work for the United Nations University (UNU-WIDER), the African Development Bank, and Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).
I hold a PhD in economics from the University of Cape Town (UCT), an M.A. from Northern Illinois University (NIU), an M.A. from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), and a B.A in Economics & Statistics from the University of Eswatini.
